PMDG Shares 737 NG3 Cockpit Comparison Imagery

Pmdg 737 Ng3 (1)

Over the weekend, PMDG’s Robert Randazzo shared a number of images for the 737 NG3 for Microsoft Flight Simulator. For the first time in a rather long time, PMDG has shared some cockpit imagery for the upcoming aircraft and compared it to the NGXu on Prepar3D. In an unusual format for PMDG, these images are extremely raw and with still plenty of development work to go for the team.

In the forum post, Robert started by saying how the team “is so focused on where we know the product will be upon completion, that we rarely take the time to step back and say ‘hey- let’s show this to our customers so they can see how cool this is going to be when finished!'” He followed on by giving some insight into how he is currently developing some of the flight control animations. As the team currently doesn’t have access to modern coding/debugging tools within MSFS, Robert is using Prepar3D v5 to help edit code and test to ensure that the Microsoft Flight Simulator version’s results match. As this was happening, Robert then sent a comparison shot to his team after realising just how significant the two shots looked side-by-side.

Robert is keen to point out that all of the images shown are not what the finished product will look like. There are still animation and lighting issues, along with many areas of the cockpit being retextured to bring it up to the standard expected within Microsoft Flight Simulator. It was also confirmed that the cockpit is a full rebuild with massive sections of geometry being rebuilt and increasing the definition of all aspects of the model.

Although we’re still hoping for a 2021 release, Robert said that a future update will address timelines for when the 737 NG3 will be in your hands.

If you want to learn more about the 737 NG3 for Microsoft Flight Simulator, check out some previously released external images.

Review: Asobo Studio Junkers JU-52 for MSFS

When it was announced that Microsoft would be bringing the Junkers JU-52 to the simulator, it didn't immediately appeal to me. As someone who often flies jetliners, or smaller GA planes with friends online, the idea of a historical aircraft didn't strike me as exciting. However, when I saw the overall quality of the tri-engine bird, I suddenly felt drawn
